NICE STORY

It's supposed to be a nice and peaceful happening. Just forget everything that keeps you going, for a full weekend. Relax. Be happy, meet nice, new people.

A journey towards the festival. Everyone from everywhere, with a smile on their faces, converging to a common place.

This idea gave me much energy, giving me the creeps from my neck down to the toes. DJ's, artists and the like know this very special feeling, when the crowd starts doing the Moove.

On the hour, people with different background, nationality, gender and age, with or without children, get closer and closer to the source of the sound. Slowly. Closer and closer. Blankets are placed next to the dancefloor, just like having a picnic. The atmosphere is very friendly and everybody starts to feel the groove taking control over their muscles.

There are laughing faces all over the place and suddenly someone starts talking to me. In this very moment I realize how the music pumps up strongly. I can't really say if it really happened or if my sense of hearing just switched into a more sensible mode. Everyone talks to everyone, and those prefering the musical approach gathered on the dance floor. I saw and felt the crowd moving within the groove. I decided to end that nice conversation and joined the moving crowd. I went right to the middle of the area and was surrounded by several others. The music did not only appear to be stronger, I just felt like being in the middle of some sort of electronical orchestra. I was able to hear sounds, that just minutes ago were part of the ambient noise. I started to move with the music and initially realized that my body was not quite able to keep the pace. I realized quickly that I was almost the only one inhibited, all people around were not just dancing with the groove, they were just a part of it.

I immediately felt the urgent need to join the others. After half an hour I was there. The sound just pushed the crowd deeper and more intense. At times, the basses just died away. I felt trance and forestral sounds. In these moments somehow everyone just stopped their movements and looked up. Around themselves. Everyone looked around. As I realized that myself I tried to check my current position, it sunk in what had happened. Everyone, me included, had closed their eyes while dancing, at least from time to time. Everyone used this break in the basses to refocus. I breathed deeply. I closed my eyes and let myself go into the new, soft sounds. A few moments later I opened my eyes again, to see what was going on around me, and I saw the others opening and closing their eyes. The song seemed to find its climax, it felt like riding the roller-coaster when going up the first steep part. Soon the launch had to come - and it came.

Thee sound pumped up again and I looked up to catch a glance at the DJ.

He seemed to be part of the sound like everyone on the dancefloor, just that he was the one triggering all these feelings. And he was the one that could change all this, but he did not. The music climbed higher and higher. I closed my eyes and felt the climax of feelings getting close.

Suddenly the basses kicked in again and I just shrilled out my happiness. I heard the shouts of the others around me. I opened by eyes and saw all these arms pointing into the night sky, more shouts, more happyness and action all around. What followed were many hours with nice feelings surrounded by nice people and touching sounds. I left the place only at sunrise, back to my blanket, where still some were hanging out that I left hours ago. I smoked a cigarrette, and overheard a soft conversation that I quite couldn't follow through my tensed hearing.

This, however, was not at all a problem for the others. I said farewell and left them with a smile on my face, back to my tent. In my sleeping back I could still hear the music, quite gentle now. I felt happy and could not stop smiling until I slowly faded away
